Summer is officially here, and this year, Truckee Thursdays has added the best thing ever!
For anyone who enjoys strolling Old Downtown Truckee during Truckee Thursdays, there is one thing that has been a bit of a challenge: Finding parking.
Well, fret no more! Truckee has added an evening FREE shuttle service from June 9 to August 18. This is just all kinds of wonderful! To view the shuttle schedule in your area, go here: historictruckee.com/truckeethursdays
Now that THAT headache is taken care of, there is no reason not to wander downtown to the tented streets to see what’s going on.
Street vendors are open for business with unique wears as well as many of the local shops which stay open later for your shopping enjoyment. And in addition to the local food trucks that motor in for the event, don’t forget all of the fine restaurants Truckee has to offer as well. Live music and a beer garden is also featured, and there is a kid’s play area to keep the youngsters occupied. So head on down to Truckee Thursdays, where you’ll be sure to see your friends and neighbors for an evening of fun.

One of the best things about being in the mountains in the summer is that you can combine enjoying the great outdoors at it’s best and a bit of culture. Here are three favorites that you should not miss:
Shakespeare/Music on the Beach, Sand Harbor, Incline Village
Sand Harbor is just about the prettiest place around, with the whole lake unfolding past those big white granite boulders. Spending an evening there really doesn’t require anything else, but since you are there anyway, you might as well throw in a little Shakespeare to add to the fun. This year “Two Gentleman of Verona,” a comedy, will be presented between July 13-August 26th. Verona performs Tuesday-Sunday, and on Mondays you can go to Sand Harbor and hear some music. Truckee Thursdays
Every Thursday throughout the summer downtown Truckee becomes a big party. From 5-9 pm you will find a farmers market, street faire, arts and crafts, live music from top performers, delicious food and lots of happy people getting together and enjoying the summertime.
Concerts on the Commons, Tahoe City
Bring your picnic basket, a swimsuit, and a mellow attitude to enjoy the end of your weekend at The Commons Beach in Tahoe City. Starting at 4:30 on Sunday afternoons you can join the throng grooving to a variety of great music on the grass or sand next to the beach. If you forgot the food, several vendors are there to tempt you with food and drink. Where else can you take a dip in Lake Tahoe and float off shore listening to music? All for free.
