One of the best things about being in the mountains in the summer is that you can combine enjoying the great outdoors at it’s best and a bit of culture. Here are three favorites that you should not miss:
Shakespeare/Music on the Beach, Sand Harbor, Incline Village
Sand Harbor is just about the prettiest place around, with the whole lake unfolding past those big white granite boulders. Spending an evening there really doesn’t require anything else, but since you are there anyway, you might as well throw in a little Shakespeare to add to the fun. This year “Two Gentleman of Verona,” a comedy, will be presented between July 13-August 26th. Verona performs Tuesday-Sunday, and on Mondays you can go to Sand Harbor and hear some music. Truckee Thursdays
Every Thursday throughout the summer downtown Truckee becomes a big party. From 5-9 pm you will find a farmers market, street faire, arts and crafts, live music from top performers, delicious food and lots of happy people getting together and enjoying the summertime.
Concerts on the Commons, Tahoe City
Bring your picnic basket, a swimsuit, and a mellow attitude to enjoy the end of your weekend at The Commons Beach in Tahoe City. Starting at 4:30 on Sunday afternoons you can join the throng grooving to a variety of great music on the grass or sand next to the beach. If you forgot the food, several vendors are there to tempt you with food and drink. Where else can you take a dip in Lake Tahoe and float off shore listening to music? All for free.
