One of the most enjoyable delights of the season are the many local Christmas concerts and events in the area.
Sierra College is once again presenting the talents of the Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus at the Resort at Squaw Creek. I’ve gone to this event several times in the past, and it never fails to put me in the holiday spirit.
Afterwards, be sure to stroll around the main lobby of the hotel to view the large scale gingerbread houses made by their chefs. This has become a yearly holiday tradition at the hotel, and it is not one to be missed. Add a hot toddy, or even a sumptuous dinner or lunch at one of the local eateries to complete the day.

Tomorrow night, Friday, November 22, marks the date of Truckee’s Annual Downtown Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

A 21 year old tradition starts out with the local school kids decorating the trees that will line Donner Pass Road in Old Downtown at 4pm, with the tree lighting ceremony slated to be at 5:15pm.
With so many fine restaurants in Old Downtown, you’re sure to find a place to warm up and a cold or hot drink to take the chill off. Some stores may be open, although it wasn’t indicated in the article.

The Truckee Donner and North Lake Tahoe Chambers of Commerce is having their mixer hosted at Northstar at Tahoe on November 21, 2013 from 5 to 7pm.
.

.
Tony Berendsen, of Tahoe Star Tours, will be doing a star gazing presentation and free sleigh rides will be offered to interested attendees. Epic Mix will also be on hand to take photos of guests, so make sure to bring your 2013.2014 Season Pass.
As we head into the holidays, it’s also that time of year when we open our hearts, lend a helping hand and give to those less fortunate than ourselves. Bring a non perishable food item at the door to the mixer that will be donated to the Truckee Community Christmas for a chance at some wonderful raffle prizes.
