Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon, or not at all ~ Harriet Van Horne

I’ve completely got the ‘entered into with abandon’ part down. In fact, I’d edit the phrase to wild abandon. I am admittedly a very messy cook. Good. But messy.
Fortunately for me, and other foodies and cooking enthusiasts, there is a veritable two story Mecca for kitchen gadgets, unique entertainment wares and various do-dads close by. Dubbed a toy store for adults, the Cooking Gallery in Old Downtown Truckee is just the place to find every conceivable culinary tool or hard to find gastronomic item. As I belong to a gourmet group, it’s my first – and usually last – go to place to find some tart pan, custard cup or ingredient required by an obscure recipe I’m cooking that can’t be found at the usual suspects (the grocery store).

Downstairs, locals and second homeowners alike, will find the most necessary of appliance and cooking needs for any kitchen. Coffee and espresso machines, Kitchenaid mixers with various attachments, sharp knives and round pie plates. Near the back are gourmet sauces, dressings, spices and specialty baking needs.

Upstairs are beautiful serving and table ware accoutrements, candles, gift ware and linens. Just the finishing touch you’ll need to show off those fabulous meals you spent all day slaving in the kitchen for.
