This time of year we tend to think of spring, with crocus and daffodils peeking up in the yard. Not this year. Mother nature has blessed us with yet another several inches of snow, and it appears we’ll be skiing through June at this rate.
But Easter weekend is upon us, and somehow or other, your kids can participate in Easter Egg Hunts and several places offer Sunday Brunches. Be sure to check your favorite places for availability. Here are a few options:
April 15
Easter Egg Hunts:
Tahoe City at Commons Beach at 10 am.
Truckee River Regional Park at 11:30 am.
Incline Village Recreational Center at 11 am.
The Ritz Carleton, Northstar. 10:30 am.
Gar Woods – 11 am
Sunday Brunches
The Ritz Carleton, Northstar. 11:30 am to 2:30 am
Sunnyside, West Shore – 9 – a pm.
The River Ranch, Tahoe City – 10-2 pm
Gar Woods – 9:30 – 2:30 pm
The Lodge at Tahoe Donner. 10 – 2 pm.

And if you prefer a quiet brunch at home, here’s an easy and fresh pancake recipe you’ll love. Filled with lemony goodness, these are light and lovely. I tried them myself, and they were incredible.
- 2 Tbsp oil or melted butter
- 1 Cup milk
- 2 Eggs
- ½ Cup sugar
- 1⅓ Cup flour
- 2 Tsp baking powder
- ⅛ Cup lemon juice
- ¼ Tsp lemon zest
- In a bowl mix the oil with the sugar. Add the eggs and the milk and continue mixing.
- Slowly incorporate the flour and baking powder and mix until there are no lumps left and the batter is shiny.
- Pour the lemon juice and the lemon zest and mix for 1 more minute.
- Lightly grease a pan and place it over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot add ¼ cup of batter and cook until there are small bubbles on top.
- Flip and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from the heat.
- Repeat the process with the rest of the batter.
- Serve while hot with butter. Enjoy!
